There's several issues open about searches, creating agent groups etc.

If there was a "tag" system that could be applied to:

  • Agents
  • Sites
  • Clients

Then your different dialogs:

  • Tools > Bulk Command
  • Tools > Bulk Script
  • Tools > Bulk Patch Management
  • Automation Manager > Exclude Tags
    etc

could have two additional "include tag" and "exclude tag" as appropriate.

Search #652 could use
Also #628 and #553

I'd like to chime in with a request to make this a "smart" feature when eventually implemented. i.e., Smart Groups: define criteria and if they're met, apply an action or a policy to the endpoint.

Example: Smart Group - [Cloud Backup Provider] Backup Checks
Criteria: System: Windows or Windows Server, Client: Any, Site: Any, Software: [Cloud Backup Provider Software] + Some secondary software
Action: Add to [Cloud Backup Provider] Backup Checks Smart Group and apply automation policy configured for that group
Result: Additional Checks are added to the Checks tab, the endpoint is displayed in a scheduled report that pulls from the Smart Group, the endpoint receives patching defined by this group (that can override policy from another hierarchical group), etc.
