I can confirm, I own the same laptop, none of the current configurations work. Fan management is horrible on this laptop, beer reward if this configuration gets implemented.

Unfortunately this is still an issue. I have yet to find a working configuration for the HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop, 15-ec2xxx.

I tried using it, when I enable it, it defaults to read-only, starts to flicker between Disabled and Read-only, and does not show temps. Doesn't work for the EC-2xxxx. Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX3050. Thanks for the effort bud!

(Unless I'm doing something wrong importing the config.)

Where inside can I find the model of the chip?

@mangler66
In case it works for you;
Go to the NBFC install files, and go to config editor, import the config. The rest should be self-explanatory.

Run SpeedFan, when in log area scroll up and you will see:
'SuperIO Chip=SCH5027D'

Ahh alright. Yes, same chip, unfortunately doesn't work for me though. I copied the XML into a vscode XML file, and then imported it, and saved it from NBFC. This should normally work right?

Yes, this should work.

Try to check bios updates, six months ago for my model (ec1064) there was an update that slightly changed the fan modes.

and does not show temps

this is strange, the temperature display is not tied to the configuration file in any way and should display the temperature initially

Could Windows 11 be an issue here?

I just don't think HP likes me. All g. Thanks for the help bud.

  • I would update my bios, but HP and I have a history of bios issues it seems.
They rolled out an F.15 version on accident, while actually working on F.12 onward. I have to wait 'till it passes the F.15 version to update, otherwise bios just tells me I can't downgrade.

When you go to HP's site they suggest. BIOS fan always on and HP coolsense.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Help-adjusting-fan-speed-on-hp-pavilion-gaming-15-15/td-p/6837850

The other notable comment is that when restart/update you have " HURRICANE " force winds because there is no power control at that moment.

The other comment says that since HP is a BIG BOY computer company that there is no option for this.

My question is that does it ruin your laptop to plug in the ' USB fan bases ' because the usb power and electric fan motor that's spinning underneath your laptop ?

Also enable advanced bios settings for HP seems possible, ( to enable xmp etc. ) but i couldn't get it to work.

Do you know if the BIOS settings should be set to "fan always on" enabled or off? I've been having this intermittent fan problem for 3 years. It's crazy. I've tried everything. Even a complete cleaning of the laptop.

I've "fan always on" turned off. Using nbfc. My laptop's battery in a moment immediately went to 20-50 mAh from a good amount of mAh and my laptop shuts down. I had to reboot it and it starts working again. It was happening ferquently. Restarts automatically at some random moment. Hangged my screeen for quite a long period of time. I fixied it by making it's service from automatic to manual from the services.

Strange what happened to you. I have the service on automatic, but nbfc doesn't work for me. Sometimes I can control the fan and other times I can't. It seems that another process takes over the nbfc. To stop this fan from flashing from 0% to 100%, I have to hit the laptop. It's been like this for 3 years.

It seems that another process takes over the nbfc. To stop this fan from flashing from 0% to 100%, I have to hit the laptop. It's been like this for 3 years.

have you tried these steps ?
nbfc is working perfectly for me. No issues in fan controlling. I use it when I need it after that I agai turn off the service.

@Harsh-beep Yes, I think I've read all the HP threads. Your solution was the last one I found, I did the steps and it worked for a couple of hours. Then I had the bad idea of updating the Bios and it seems to have failed again. But I don't know if that was really it. My computer is an HP Pavilion 15-EC0XXX AMD Ryzen 7 3750H, GTX 1650. My temperatures don't go over 40 degrees.

Perform a system restore to a point before the BIOS update was installed.
Check your fan speed and CPU temperature using SpeedFan.

just to check if you're able to control the fan speed or not. You can see RPM there.

I disabled "always fan on" in the bios. I used your settings. There are times when I can control the fans without problems and other times like now, I can't. They are at maximum and can't be controlled. It's as if another process got on top of fancontrol to control them. Did that happen to you? At least now they are at 100% constantly. The fans are always from 0 to 100% and 100 to 0 every 2 seconds. My temperature doesn't go over 50 degrees. I only use it for office.

Update: It's strange, but after giving a little slap to the fan area, they stop and can be controlled by the program. I've been hitting it for 3 years hahah

@Harsh-beep can u be more specific what did u do exactly

  1. Download this plugin :
    OpenHardwareMonitorLib.zip - Made by @basso314
    Then replace it in : C:\Program Files (x86)\NoteBook FanControl\Plugins
  2. Then download the config made by @Quarterblad .
    Paste it in : C:\Program Files (x86)\NoteBook FanControl\Configs
  3. Then run nbfc and select the config.
That's how it worked for me.

System Model HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2xxx

Fan speed noise control

I know this thread is old, but I want to say thank you for this. After four years with this laptop, I can finally use its full potential without fan noise.

I have a Ryzen i5 with an RTX 3050ti, and I had to change my power option plan settings to reduce power to the CPU and GPU so the fans wouldn't go to 90%. It's absolutely crazy and a shame to think that HP didn't care about this and still doesn't give a damn about its customers. And believe me, this isn't my first HP laptop with the exact same problem.

Two years ago, I also sent an email to HP without a single reply. I encourage everyone to check online before buying any HP model, but in general, there are many gaming laptops that have significant, serious problems, like the Lenovo Legion model now.

I hope people could find this thread like I did now.

Thanks again for this!
