Describe the feature you'd like

It would be nice if I could have rules to allow downloading Youtube videos for some and ignoring it for others. I migrated my YT playlists to karakeep, but I don't need these downloaded, while some individual videos are really helpful and I want them archived (in best quality). It might even be enough to just allow setting any yt-dlp args within the rule engine, this way one could just have a rule which never matches anything to disable downloading videos.

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing Karakeep users

Being able to selectively download (different qualities of) (youtube) videos. Reduces disk usage by only downloading what you really want archived in the quality you need

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

I don't think so

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request

I was just looking for exactly the same feature for the same use case. This would be nice if karakeep could do that.
