Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
No.
Describe the solution you'd like
Support for draft-ietf-deleg, which is getting close to done.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Other auth servers and resolvers already support DELEG.
Additional context
Yes, I know you already have plenty on your plate (I have seen https://github.com/hickory-dns/hickory-dns#rfcs-in-progress-or-not-yet-implemented); this could fit somewhere in that timeline.
@djc commented on GitHub (Feb 23, 2026):
Thanks for the notification -- I don't think this will be a high priority unless someone wants to sponsor the work (or has a concrete use case).
@paulehoffman commented on GitHub (Feb 23, 2026):
That policy makes perfect sense. Having said that, please leave this issue open because I suspect that others will note the lack of DELEG in Hickory once DELEG gets completed this year.
