Which version of floccus are you using?

Android app 5.3.1

How many bookmarks do you have, roughly?

5

Are you using other means to sync bookmarks in parallel to floccus?

Only for testing in this case: Nextcloud Bookmarks org.schabi.nxbookmarks

Sync method

Nextcloud Bookmarks

Which browser are you using? In case you are using the phone App, specify the Android or iOS version and device please.

n/a

Which version of Nextcloud Bookmarks are you using? (if relevant)

No response

Which version of Nextcloud? (if relevant)

? (managed Nextcloud at nextcloud.hosting.zone)

What kind of WebDAV server are you using? (if relevant)

No response

Describe the Bug

Changing the folder structure on the server and therefor changing the root folder in the app throws the error Failed to map parentId: 0.
Clearing the cache allows to sync again - but of course reverts the changed folder structure - until the next change of the structure in the server.
Nextcloud Bookmarks org.schabi.nxbookmarks works correct.

Expected Behavior

Update the structure in tbe app.

To Reproduce

  1. Change the folder structure on the server
  2. Change the root folder in the app
  3. Sync in Floccus app
  4. Error

Debug log provided

  • I have provided a debug log file

Hello 👋

Thank you for taking the time to open this issue with floccus. I know it's frustrating when software
causes problems. You have made the right choice to come here and open an issue to make sure your problem gets looked at
and if possible solved.
I'm Marcel and I created floccus a few years ago, maintaining it ever since. I currently work for Nextcloud
which leaves me with less time for side projects like this one than I used to have.
I still try to answer all issues and if possible fix all bugs here, but it sometimes takes a while until I get to it.
Until then, please be patient.
Note also that GitHub is a place where people meet to make software better together. Nobody here is under any obligation
to help you, solve your problems or deliver on any expectations or demands you may have, but if enough people come together we can
collaborate to make this software better. For everyone.
Thus, if you can, you could also have a look at other issues to see whether you can help other people with your knowledge
and experience. If you have coding experience it would also be awesome if you could step up to dive into the code and
try to fix the odd bug yourself. Everyone will be thankful for extra helping hands!
To continue the development and maintenance of this project in a sustainable way it is expected that you donate to the project when opening a ticket,
if you're not a donor already. You can find donation options at https://floccus.org/donate/. Thank you!

One last word: If you feel, at any point, like you need to vent, this is not the place for it; you can go to the Nextcloud forum,
to twitter or somewhere else. But this is a technical issue tracker, so please make sure to
focus on the tech and keep your opinions to yourself.

I look forward to working with you on this issue
Cheers 💙

Nextcloud Bookmarks org.schabi.nxbookmarks works correct.

Well schabi.nxbookmarks doesn't sync anything afaik; it has no offline storage.

Changing the folder structure on the server and therefor changing the root folder in the app throws the error Failed to map parentId: 0.

Can you give a bit more details? So, you have set a subfolder on the server as the sync target and then move that folder on the server somewhere else?

I see. That's why it always has the correct folder structure.

Changing the folder structure on the server and therefor changing the root folder in the app throws the error Failed to map parentId: 0.

Can you give a bit more details? So, you have set a subfolder on the server as the sync target and then move that folder on the server somewhere else?

  1. Have bookmarks in a subfolder on the server
  2. Set that subfolder in the app settings
  3. sync
  4. OK
  5. Move bookmarks to root on the server and delete subfolder
  6. Remove subfolder in app settings
  7. Sync
  8. Error
  9. Clear cache in the app
  10. Sync
  11. OK

Same the other way round (add subfolder on the server ...)

mh, I can't test with my Android device at the moment, but I couldn't reproduce this with the addon version for starters :/ That doesn't mean it's not a bug, though, of course :D

Note to self: I think the main trigger for the error here may be changing the subfolder in the settings. Still have to think about what would be the most expected reaction in terms of resetting mappings and cache.

I have the exact same issue, with clearing the cache it works.
However I even removed the profile after I moved the Bookmarks Folder in a Subfolder, so I made it from scratch.
One downsync worked, then I got the error too.

Am I correct in saying that this is only a problem in the native app (Android app)?

Do you all have multiple profiles or just one?
