Hello, dear friends,
I recently found this repo and cannot fully understand if I got the description right. There are 2 versions available on AliExpress right now: GLAA and GLAP. The GLAP version is around 30% cheaper than the GLAA. However, unlike the GLAA, the GLAP is for PCI usage only, and according to the official system info, it just won’t work as a USB modem plugged into a router.
Could you please tell me if your firmware does the trick and unlocks the GLAP version of the modem to work as a USB modem?
Does your firmware unlock MCC and remove regional restrictions from the device with a firmware version higher than RM520NGLAAR01A06M4G?
Thanks in advance!

From what I understand there's some sort of hardware modification that needs done to get USB working on a GLAP
A modified GLAP with USB working is included here but I have no idea how it's done.

Thanks a lot for your reply! I have seen this modem box on AliExpress and wanted to try it out soon when I receive it.
About the MCC lock (regional restrictions): on all firmware versions released after 2023, Quectel implemented regional restrictions for certain counters, and they also made it impossible to downgrade to the firmware version that doesn't have this MCC lock. In my case, the firmware without the MCC lock is RM520NGLAAR01A06M4G. Even if you flash the device with the older version of the firmware, the device won't be able to see the carrier's networks anyway. I thought that you or some people in this community might know the way around the Quectel limitation of downgrading the firmware.
I'm sure the downgrade to the firmware version RM520NGLAAR01A06M4G can be done because some people in my country offer this service for a fee, but unfortunately, they don’t share the method publicly for obvious reasons.
Thanks in advance!
