So time to time I'm having an issue with proxyman that is if proxyman is open the whole internet connection is blocked (like I cut the wire). If I turn off proxyman or turn off the macos proxy function, everything is working fine. I cannot reproduce it but I face with it frequently.
Can you advice me please what to do?
@NghiaTranUIT commented on GitHub (Jan 17, 2023):
What Proxyman version and your macOS you're using @torokdnl 🤔 Please update to the latest build if possible.
If Proxyman blocks your connection, I guess it conflicts with your VPN app. Do you have any VPN, which is opened at the same time?
@torokdnl commented on GitHub (Jan 17, 2023):
System info:
Is it possible another VPN client can interfere with Proxyman even if it's not active? (I mean like meta client is open but not actively connected to any regions?)
@NghiaTranUIT commented on GitHub (Jan 17, 2023):
Not sure how to reproduce it. We haven't recently received similar report on this issue.
Can you take a screenshot/video record of how it looks like, and share it with me via support@proxyman.io ?
I appreciate it.
@torokdnl commented on GitHub (Jan 17, 2023):
Alright, I have some findings on my side (usually I use 2 VPN clients - metaclient, proton vpn). With proton VPN there is no problem if the app is turned on but not actively connected to somewhere.
WIth Metaclient sometimes it's buggy (I think it's more on their side or local thing) if the vpn client app is open but not connected to somewhere it blocks Proxyman fully.
Solution on my side: I killed metaclient app from the background in the system monitor (task manager) and now it's working!
Thanks a lot for the quick help btw. 🙇🙇🙇
@NghiaTranUIT commented on GitHub (Jan 17, 2023):
Thanks. These VPN apps are notorious for not working well with HTTP Proxy. Thanks for useful info 👍

I started seeing this same issue since updating to 4.0.0 yesterday. Exact same system info as @torokdnl (I don't have any VPN clients open though). I've had to quit Proxyman like 4 times since yesterday, so that my internet would start working again.
System info:
Proxyman details: Version 4.0.0 (40000)
MacOS details: Ventura 13.1
@NghiaTranUIT commented on GitHub (Jan 25, 2023):
@philviso-reverb can you double-check that the Helper Tools is installed in the Preference -> Advanced -> Helper Tool section?
Can you double-check if Proxyman is enabled in the System Preference -> General -> Login Item? (If there is TablePlus Inc, please enable it, since it the legacy Helper Tool)

@philviso-reverb commented on GitHub (Jan 25, 2023):
@NghiaTranUIT Both are enabled. The weird thing is that it doesn't always happen. It's kinda random. Proxyman is working like normal, and then at random times it kills my internet connection and I have to quit out of Proxyman for the internet to start working again.
Sorry I don't have more info here, but let me know if there's any additional logs or anything that might be useful. Another co-worker of mine reported the same problem yesterday.
@NghiaTranUIT commented on GitHub (Jan 26, 2023):
Can you share with me what your DNS setting is in System Setting -> Wifi -> Details -> DNS ? I'd ask because there is a bug on DNS over HTTPS on Ventura 13.1 (https://github.com/ProxymanApp/Proxyman/issues/1486)
Just wondering: When the Internet doesn't work, how the Proxyman app looks like? Do you see a lot of failed requests 🤔
@philviso-reverb commented on GitHub (Feb 7, 2023):
Just had it happen again a few days - this on on macOS 13.2.
DNS settings are...
When the internet isn't working, I don't see any traffic coming through Proxyman (i.e., no failed requests - just silence).
@NghiaTranUIT commented on GitHub (Feb 8, 2023):
@philviso-reverb can you open Preference -> Disable the Listen on IPv6 and try again?
If the Internet doesn't work, do you see any failed requests on the app? I'd like to see it.
@philviso-reverb commented on GitHub (Apr 14, 2023):
@NghiaTranUIT I haven't used Proxyman much lately, so sorry for the (very) delayed response. I'll try disabling IPv6, and let you know if I continue seeing this issue. There's been a few macOS updates since this issue started happening, so maybe Apple resolved something too.
When the internet stops working I don't see any traffic flowing through Proxyman. When I quit Proxyman it starts working again.
@NghiaTranUIT commented on GitHub (Apr 15, 2023):
@philviso-reverb most of the time, it's due to the VPN app. Proxyman or other apps, like Charles Proxy, doesn't work well with VPN apps because it takes control the traffic of your system -> As a result, there is no traffic to Proxyman.
I suggest disabling the DNS-over-HTTPS or VPN app when using Proxyman.
