This picture shows my problem http://i.imgur.com/aIjgsXd.png
Despite setting execute permission on the file it still won't run unless I use sudo or the root account. I had it all running fine yesterday so I don't know what's happened 😢
@marvinlehmann commented on GitHub (Aug 3, 2016):
Could you please post the output of
ls -a(from the script directory)?@m8wtf commented on GitHub (Aug 3, 2016):
😱 ls: cannot open directory .: Permission denied
@marvinlehmann commented on GitHub (Aug 3, 2016):
Please run
sudo chown -R csgoserver:csgoserver /home/csgoserverand test if it helps.
Your csgoserver user doesn't seem to have access to his user dir at all. (probably drw-r--r-- (644)).
@m8wtf commented on GitHub (Aug 3, 2016):
I got http://i.imgur.com/uBF1mMU.png
So I ran it as root and the error didn't come up however it hasn't changed anything.
edit: deleted the two files and re-ran "chown -R csgoserver:csgoserver /home/csgoserver" but it doesn't make a difference to me not being able to access stuff.
@marvinlehmann commented on GitHub (Aug 3, 2016):
sudo chmod -R 755 /home/csgoserverDoes that work?
@m8wtf commented on GitHub (Aug 3, 2016):
It ran but I'm still getting Permission denied, I have tried rebooting server.
edit: did updates as well, was one for bash which got me hopeful but no luck.
@marvinlehmann commented on GitHub (Aug 3, 2016):
I don't really know but could you please post the outputs of:
sudo ls -ld /home/csgoserverand
sudo ls -l /home/csgoserverand
groups csgoserverThis should give us/me a better overview.

Thanks for your replies
@marvinlehmann commented on GitHub (Aug 3, 2016):
The only difference compared to mine is the group "wheel":
Sorry. I don't know why it doesn't work. I guess we will have to wait for others.
I don't know if it would do anything if you remove the user from "wheel". I don't have enough linux knowledge.
@UltimateByte commented on GitHub (Aug 4, 2016):
The wheel thing must be related to how he gained sudo acces.
Did you try loging at root to chown ? Maybe your sudo access have insufficient permissions to change some ownerships.
As root :
chown -R csgoserver:csgoserver /home/csgoserver
@m8wtf commented on GitHub (Aug 4, 2016):
Yes, I tried that - http://i.imgur.com/rpX06E1.png
@dgibbs64 commented on GitHub (Aug 4, 2016):
try su - csgoserver looks like your in the /root dir
@m8wtf commented on GitHub (Aug 4, 2016):
you said "As root:"
I switch on the second line of the screenshot.
@m8wtf commented on GitHub (Aug 4, 2016):
OOh shit, it worked, thank you 💃
silly me, didn't think I had to put the hyphen in when switching user.
@UltimateByte commented on GitHub (Aug 4, 2016):
Protip : When you switch user, input "cd", in most distros, it'll take you to the user's home directory. :)
@dgibbs64 commented on GitHub (Aug 4, 2016):
:-P at least you know for next time. su user changes user but stays in the current dir. su - user changes user and moves to the users home dir.
@UltimateByte commented on GitHub (Aug 4, 2016):
Huhu, didn't know that one @dgibbs64 , thanks :D
