Hello,
I had to edit the lgsm/functions/alert_email.sh
L: 15
"-r" is a invalid argument for mail
I use now the argument "-aFrom:"
After a test with ./gmodserver test-alert I recived a #email.

I found this bug after I installed yesterday linuxgsm for a gmod server, as #described on https://linuxgsm.com/lgsm/gmodserver/

There are various ways to get help and support with LinuxGSM. Including wiki, steam group and discord

Additionally, I will need at least the following outputs

which mail
which mailx
mail -version
mailx --version
dpkg -l mailutils

So, Debian 8, mailutils properly installed.

Can you please try mailx -V and mailx -v to see if we can get a version?

I'm working on a better way to send emails (using a proper remote SMTP server with SSL/TLS and authentication would be the main goal since few people have a proper mail server on their game server), the issue being that there are very few universal SMTP clients for Linux. See https://github.com/GameServerManagers/LinuxGSM/issues/1690

Sorry for delayed answer.
mailx -V or mailx -v giving me no more info, instead I could give you:

dpkg -l | grep mailx
ii bsd-mailx 8.1.2-0.20141216cvs-2 amd64 simple mail user agent

I tried with your #1690 , but sendmail didn't work for me, also it removed my mailservice postfix.
Server is running Plesk + using Postfix & Dovecot .
So maybe I have to try it via this mailservice.

I cannot reproduce the issue, though mail alerts doesn't work for me neither
[ .... ] Alert mcserver: Sending Email alert: example@me.orgmail: cannot send message: Process exited with a non-zero status

Overall, mail sending from LinuxGSM requires a major refactor. Now that I work at a hosting company, sending unauthenticated emails kind of fustrates me.

I think this can be done as a major refactor of the mail sending here : #1690
