Booting from the disk, no matter if I press enter or use any of the F keys, I just hang at the tsc=xyz screen with blinking cursor and no drive activity. The disk just spins down after a bit. It's not hard locked, Ctrl + Alt + Del reboots, but I just don't proceed any further here. v0.9.6 boots fine on the same hardware.

Also the new boot menu is a bit confusing, I first waited the five seconds thinking I don't know what these options are and just wanted to boot, but no that just skipped to boot from HDD. Maybe having a Windows 98 style disk boot menu with a 10 second timeout would be better. Or just go back to the v0.9.6 bootloader since that actually worked.

boottest.zip

Can you test this ISO? This fixes this same symptom on VMWare, since I think the Thinkpads use the same licensed Phoenix core it might fix it there too, pls let me know

With this I get past the tsc=xyz message, but I get stuck at Load: [. ] instead. Although not sure if this is because its 22MB ISO or if another weird issue.

Actually the behavior is slightly different, it's not spun down yet and the drive light is static on. I burnt this to a DVD-RW because I didn't want to waste a DVD-R on it, but I think this drive is probably too old to handle a DVD-RW idk.

So I burnt a new disk, and I ejected it from the laptop, and Load: turned into 24?ERR. I was able to Ctrl + Alt + Del here and boot from the new disk, and this worked a lot better. I was able to get into the installer and it works.

24ERR means that it failed to read on sector 24, so most likely just failure to handle DVD-RW. But good to know this is fixed. I will hopefully release 1.0.1 soon so you can enjoy this fix
