Hello. I want to use Whoogle, but unfortunately, the results from Whoogle and Google are very different. Yet, there’s no difference in the search criteria. What’s the problem?
@Don-Swanson commented on GitHub (Oct 26, 2025):
It appears you may have some troubles reading the README, or searching through the issues for the reasoning why.
The reason why is because of all the google issues and lockdowns we have had to use Mullvad Leta as the backend for now, which does Google Caching and is only for their locale. So while they are still Google Results at the core, they may not match your locale.

Hello, to be honest, I didn’t even know I was supposed to read the README before asking. I’m a bit of a newbie with this stuff.
I wasn’t trying to be difficult, I just couldn’t understand why the results were so different.
I now understand that you had to switch to Mullvad Leta because of Google’s restrictions, but let’s be honest, this is not Google anymore. If the search results are this unrelated, it means your project no longer has anything to do with Google.
Thank you anyway for maintaining the project, even though I’m still a clueless newbie.

Let’s be honest for a minute, your first step if you have any questions about a project is to read the project readme and search the issues. Same as everything else, the Documentation usually is a wealth of knowledge.
I’ll state again for you since it appears it wasn’t understood the first time. The results are in fact Google at the core (Leta gives the option for Google results), but since its anonymized it won’t necessarily be for your locale, especially if you are outside of the USA. My results 9 times out of 10 match exactly what the Google results are for my locale, so I’m going to assume your searches are for a non American locale. But to be completely honest, yes this is still Google. Please refrain from making statements you aren’t knowledgeable on.
If you have an issue with this I would recommend you just stick to Google.
