Original GitHub issue: https://github.com/jberkel/sms-backup-plus/issues/109
When attempting a restore, SMS Backup+ shows the "Logging in..." status, then the "Calculating..." status. The restore then fails with "Error during backup/restore: IO Error".
This is the logcat: http://i.imgur.com/Atc7v.png
@jberkel commented on GitHub (Jan 7, 2011):
it looks like this is what the error message implies - an IO error. nothing the app can do in this case, the request has timed out. does it happen consistently?
@carvin commented on GitHub (Jan 7, 2011):
Thanks for the reply. It happens consistently, I am unable to restore SMS at all. It seems to be a timeout while reading from the Gmail server. I do have about 10,000 SMS messages backed up, but restore works fine with the Backup to Gmail app.
@jberkel commented on GitHub (Jan 9, 2011):
Are you trying to restore 'All' messages or only a subset ?
Maybe the timeout needs to be increased.
@jberkel commented on GitHub (Jan 9, 2011):
ok, i think i understand what's going on - sms backup+ does now a search on all messages to be able to selectively restore items - this might take a while on the server. the default timeout is 60 seconds, i will increase it in the next version (will be released soon)
@jberkel commented on GitHub (Jan 9, 2011):
could you try out this version and see if it helps:
https://github.com/jberkel/sms-backup-plus/sms-backup-plus-increased-timeout.apk/qr_code
@carvin commented on GitHub (Jan 9, 2011):
Thanks for the update. I've installed it on my phone and started a restore, I'll let you know what happens.
I had tried both restoring all messages and restoring a subset of 500, the issue occurred with both.
@carvin commented on GitHub (Jan 9, 2011):
Okay, it looks like this fixed the error. The restore has started. Thanks, just Flattred this!
@jberkel commented on GitHub (Jan 9, 2011):
Increase socket read timeout
This is necessary to deal with more complex IMAP searches we're doing now.

Hi jberkel,
I've the same problem on my phone device (Spica Android 2.1).
Can you give us a link to your new version ?
When will you add this feature on the market version ?
Thank you

Just upgraded my Galaxy Note to ICS and I think I am seeing the same issue
