SMS Backup + was working perfectly a few weeks ago and is now acting weird. All of a sudden when I back up my text messages it gets saved separately into gmail; my texts go under my number while their texts under their contact name. How do I get them to group together under the same conversation?
@kurahaupo commented on GitHub (Jun 22, 2020):
There has not been a new release of SMS Backup recently, so this is undoubtedly an old bug that something is now triggering.
Do you know of anything that's changed, either for yourself or for your correspondents?
For example, have you or your correspondents switched from sending SMS to sending MMS?
@cauerego commented on GitHub (Sep 28, 2020):
is the app even being maintained anymore?
@kurahaupo commented on GitHub (Sep 30, 2020):
@cauerego whilst it's true that Jan (@jberkel) hasn't been seen here in a while, 90% of error reports can be fixed by configuration changes, and I've been dealing with those.
Of the remaining issues, the two most widely impacting ones are intractable:
I'm slowly getting the build process running on my own system so I can make patches for simpler problems in due course, but then I'd still have to figure out how to publish on PlayStore and F-Droid, and/or negotiate with Jan to get him to publish on my behalf.
@cauerego commented on GitHub (Sep 30, 2020):
wow, such an awesome reply!
i'm not used to get such great human contact from googlers (or ex's)...
wouldn't it have been better to write all that somewhere else more relevant and link it there? even if you wanted to copy and paste it here too.
