My text log only contains received texts, not any that I've sent. Is there a fix to this or a setting I'm missing? I love this app and have used it for years on my old Galaxy, but I just got a J7.

According to the back-ups, this started around Nov 21st. Before that, both the sent and received texts were backed up.

How do you send messages? Via Google Voice/Hangouts/Signal? (#516, #841)
@asuka73 commented on GitHub (Mar 28, 2018):
I just use the text feature on the phone (by the phone number). Not through
a 3rd party like Google Voice/Hangouts/Signal.

Can you try the beta? https://github.com/jberkel/sms-backup-plus#beta
@asuka73 commented on GitHub (Apr 1, 2018):
Hello,
I did the beta, but I still only get the received texts, not my outgoing
texts. It's been this way since November of 2017.

Did anything change in November? Maybe an Android update, you changed provider or something similar?
@asuka73 commented on GitHub (Apr 1, 2018):
I've had the same carrier (AT&T), as for updates, just the normal android
updates. I don't change settings or anything with updates.

Hi,
So I think the problem is fixed. It had something to do with my texts not
being in the right order. I cleared my cache and it seems to be backing up
the messages both sent and received. Thank you for all your help!!

I guess it's not fixed, it seems like I do get both from some people but
not from everyone. I don't know why.

Duplicate of https://github.com/jberkel/sms-backup-plus/issues/872
Since we can't reproduce the issue ourselves, anything that you can do to help is appreciated - could you create a gist of the log as instructed at https://github.com/jberkel/sms-backup-plus#i-want-to-file-a-bug-report-what-should-i-do
I'm going to close this to keep the discussion centralized
@asuka73 commented on GitHub (Apr 17, 2018):
I really have no idea what any of that means. I'm going to try and get one
of my smart co-workers to figure it out and give you what you need.
Thank you

@SevnSins commented on GitHub (Dec 20, 2019):
for anyone that may stumble across this thread like I did, the issue is related to "advanced messaging" being enabled on newer phones. go into the settings of the text messaging application, turn off advanced messaging, outgoing messages will backup again.
