I cannot open the restored messages either. Android 4.4.4 on SM-N910G Galaxy Note 4
All my messages have no subject, all timestamps are reset to the time restore was attempted. messages do not open.

So how can I fix it from not getting the IO Error then ?

I am not sure. It did not give any error.

You are welcome to send me steps to get the error and I can send the output
to you. I am a developer, not java though.

Same problem here, upgraded to kitkat and can't restore my messages. I can see msgs being restored during the restore procedure, but they're all blank (no text in them)
