I am using this app for Nexus 4 on android 4.4.2.
Backup is working fine but restore doesn't work at all.
It shows restoration of sms but aren't available on my phone.
any solution or suggestions
@seancmonahan commented on GitHub (Mar 25, 2014):
I haven't tried this yet, but there appears to be an option to reimport.
Settings->SMS->Import SMS: "If some of your messages aren't appearing, touch to import them again"
@pyzro commented on GitHub (Apr 2, 2014):
I've been able to correct my issue. It seems that by default, the application does not have "write SMS/MMS" privledges
This is what I've done to get around it:
I sat and was able to watch each message reappear.
@ghane commented on GitHub (Apr 10, 2014):
Thank you. SMS Backup+ has worked so well for me over the last two years, that I stopped any other method of backups. I had to send my phone for repair (HTC Butterfly S), and it was updtaed to 4.4.2. Since I got it back yesterday, I kept trying to restore, it would take 6 hours to restore 20000 SMS, but none would appear.
Thanks to your post, I installed AppOps, turned on "Write SMS", and it is now restoring correctly.
Thank you.
@bnewt33 commented on GitHub (Apr 17, 2014):
Pyzro, your link to AppOps no longer works and I can't find an AppOps app that does work with 4.4.2. Anyone?
@pyzro commented on GitHub (Apr 17, 2014):
Seems that Google pulled the plug on the whole thing:
http://www.cnet.com/news/why-android-wont-be-getting-app-ops-anytime-soon/
If you're rooted, you can try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.findsdk.apppermission

Aaargh. Not rooted. Can't for biz. Ugh.
@ghane commented on GitHub (Apr 18, 2014):
bnewt33, I am running 4.4.2 on a stock HTC Butterfly S, and installed it two weeks ago from the link. I still see it in App Store.
Do you have multiple users on your device?
@bnewt33 commented on GitHub (Apr 19, 2014):
ghane, you still see appops? I get "We're sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server." I assume per the cnet article that pyzro posted. Actually, there are several other appops apps in PlayStore but none of the ones I have tried so far work.
@ghane commented on GitHub (Apr 19, 2014):
I checked right now, I can still see it on play.google.com. See attached screenshot.
Let me know how I can help.
@ghane commented on GitHub (Apr 19, 2014):
bnewt33,

All kitkat restore issues can be solved by following these steps.
Everything should be fine.
Thanks.
@lcts commented on GitHub (May 1, 2014):
I don't have an account there, nor do I want to make one for the sake of this. Any chance of putting the beta version up on f-droid.org as well?
@false9striker commented on GitHub (May 2, 2014):
@lcts You may have to wait for a new release then.
@lcts commented on GitHub (May 2, 2014):
I just manually gave SMSBackup+ SMS writing permission, that worked. I'll contact the people maintaining the package on f-droid directly, that version is out of date anyway.
@false9striker commented on GitHub (May 2, 2014):
Ok cool 👍
@mfaure commented on GitHub (Jun 15, 2014):
As a side note, you can install App Ops from F-Droid https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=app%20ops&fdid=com.adstrosoftware.launchappops
@dalb8 commented on GitHub (Jun 20, 2014):
I doubt you'll see an update on f-droid.org seeing as many of the dependencies are now from the author's own maven repository. They really should have a warning in the description though.
@AbinashBishoyi commented on GitHub (Jun 20, 2014):
I don't understand why we need f-droid...
@lcts commented on GitHub (Jun 23, 2014):
Abinash, personally I "need" it because I am lazy (I want to be able to get software and software updates via some kind of package manager, not manually) and don't have a Google account.
@AbinashBishoyi commented on GitHub (Jun 23, 2014):
:)
