Original GitHub issue: https://github.com/jberkel/sms-backup-plus/issues/290
When automatic backups were failing due to https://github.com/jberkel/sms-backup-plus/issues/174, there was no notification that the backups were not succeeding. The only way to find this out was to go into the app. Most people would not do this as the app is generally install and forget.
Should failures such as this not trigger a notification in the status bar? https://github.com/jberkel/sms-backup-plus/issues/17 seems to cover this but is also closed so I'm assuming this is a different issue.
@jberkel commented on GitHub (Jan 27, 2013):
i think they only get triggered when notifications are enabled in the app settings. there are often temporary connectivity issues, might be annoying to see them all the time,
@bompstable commented on GitHub (Jan 29, 2013):
Maybe you could trigger a warning if a certain number of consecutive unsuccessful backups have occurred? Or if a certain amount of time has passed since the last backup succeeded?
Agreed that it could be annoying to get many notifications, but I'd still prefer this to not knowing at all that backups aren't running. With #174, a colleague had absolutely no idea that his backups weren't running until I asked him to check to see if he was having the same issue as I was.

Since the last update (1.5.1), this is the behaviour I'm experiencing. If my phone is not connected to the internet, I'll get a warning notification, even though I explicitly disabled notifications in the preferences. Is this normal ? Unlike maxspicer, I prefer not to be notified (my phone is not connected very often).

can you try the latest beta from https://plus.google.com/communities/113290889178902750997 ? you need to add yourself to the community and then follow the "Become a beta tester link"
@ghost commented on GitHub (Jun 8, 2013):
Do I need to have a g+ account ? When I follow the link "become a beta tester" I get a 404. I'm logged in my google account but I don't have (and don't want to have, if possible) a google+ account.
@jberkel commented on GitHub (Jun 8, 2013):
@edp yes you do - alternatively you can install from https://www.dropbox.com/s/ynct16deswbbdgq/smsbackup-plus-1.5.2-SNAPSHOT-market.apk
@ghost commented on GitHub (Jun 8, 2013):
I installed the newest version from your dropbox link and it works perfectly. Thank you very much Jan.
