I'm new to the app, it was surprising that it requires a server, which i don't have, i mean why is it like this, and why when you tab on the server setup guide, it brings me back here.
@mirkoperillo commented on GitHub (Sep 23, 2025):
Hi @Wxpl1, I'm not sure to fully understand your concerns, anyway: shiori is a web application and it has an embedded web-server.
This means that if you want to use it on your pc you can. It's a single binary so you can run it and then open a browser on link
http://localhost:8080.If you want to use it from different devices (at home or outside) it should be installed on a server machine so it can be always reachable.
I hope to have been clear.
I don't understand, can you explain better this part ?
