Could you send a screenshot of the Windows Defender prompt that shows up when you try to run the executable?
Did you try to install previous versions? Were you successful?
Anyone else having this problem? The executable is signed with my developer certificate so I'm not sure what else I can do.
@dougransom commented on GitHub (Aug 30, 2021):
Already had a previous version installed, was prompted for an update.
@clechasseur commented on GitHub (Aug 30, 2021):
Can you tell me which version of Windows you're running? The edition or service pack would help. You can run
winverand send a screenshot of the dialog that's displayed, for instance.@dougransom commented on GitHub (Aug 30, 2021):
I have seen this on other open-source binaries I have downloaded in the past. I have always been too scared to run them.
@clechasseur commented on GitHub (Aug 31, 2021):
Weird, that's the latest Windows 10 version.
Let's validate the certificate anyway. Right-click on the installer and choose Properties. In the Digital Signatures tab, choose Details, then Show Certificate. Could you post a screenshot of the resulting dialog to see if your computer considers my certificate to be valid?
@clechasseur commented on GitHub (Aug 31, 2021):
According to this Stack Overflow answer:

...it seems that because I have a regular, non-EV code signing certificate, the system needs "time" (...) to build trust in my installer. So I guess that you could wait a while and try again... cool system 😉
