Hello everyone

I found a simple solution that I would like to share with you all. Some guy forked the OnTheSpot project and fixed the problems and added a bunch of other features as well. Check out the repository. I am using it and it works https://github.com/justin025/onthespot

It fixes all the problems this repository has and provides a better tutorial on how to download it + bunch of other things. It already has 1.5k downloads.
See what it looks like here.

Overview

Hopefully I was able to help you guys.
Have a nice day 😊

Potentially suspicious, had suspicious activity on my Spotify account after interacting with this version of the program.

Save yourself the trouble. This is a Trojan.

Bro you can't be serious. Go on Virus Total and upload the file there the scan will go through and no trojan will be found. Only on Avast and some other shitty Malware detection App.

Please. Check on multiple sources before you start throwing accusations :)

You can always look inside the source code and check yourself how our app works by the way and why would we even put a trojan in the first place we do this mainly because we're music enthusiasts.

And then what happened I guess you reset the password? Yes thats totally normal, if you would actually join our discord you would notice you are not the only one. Afterall you are downloading music from Spotify and there is something called rate limiting.

So no wonder it's being labelled suspicious...

Like guys before you don't trust us please take a look at the source code and then with the help of AI tools you can try and understand the code and then figure out if our App is really a Virus or something. And if you don't trust the Exe you can always build it urself.

Thanks for your understanding 😊

With all due respect, I'm not a code wizard or a computer god. I was brought to this project by my partner after I couldn't sign into the original OTS while he could. Before even downloading any songs and connecting through the devices, I got an email from Spotify saying there had been suspicious activity and Spotify reset my password themselves. I prefer to be on the side of caution and uninstalled the program before changing my password.

I'm not claiming this program is 100% malicious and I'm not saying it's not. From my understanding, I saw 'suspicious activity' and took it at face value. My comment here was simply a cautionary one.

I hope you can understand why, as someone who isn't well versed with code or even how spotify works, I was spooked. I would be willing to give it another try perhaps, but ideally don't want to lose my account.

I understand your thoughts behind this and your actions are totally reasonable. The same thing happened to me I needed to reset my password too. I would suggest you to give it another try afterall if you have any questions or concerns we will try our best to answer it in the discord.

If you get a virus, hacked or loose out spotify account feel free to comment on this post or create new issues idk and report the living heck out of us.

No user ever lost their Spotify account. Note that this software is NOT illegal all we are doing is enable a feature that spotify already has implemented and make it downloadable. There is no bypassing etc... no fancy magic just simple coding and thinking.

Please let me know if you need any other help!

Hi again, I've decided I'd like to give this another shot, but before I do is there a section in the discord that talks about this? I have joined, and decided to ask rather than just post a message in the general if it's already addressed elsewhere. I just want to see what other people had to say about this and confirming that it is safe after the password reset.
