I can't understand why the fans in so many notebooks fail to run when required. There is a temperature sensor, either in the processor or mounted so that it touches. It is possible with many apps such as this one or others like Speccy for example, to read the temperature of the processor. If the temperature can be read by these apps then the temperature should also be read by the fan control chip in the notebook - so why are there so many notebooks that have intermittent fans? I think there is a common factor - the fan control chips. When the fan/s fail to operate, it seems even this app cannot force them to run because it has to drive the same fan control chip to do that. The only method I have found that will get the fans running in my Asus N550JV when they fail is to power off completely for about 10 minutes and then boot up again. This app is good for displaying the processor temperature, but, in my case at least, it cannot overcome the failure of the fan control chip to do it's job. Surely the notebook manufacturers are aware of this problem by now and can pressure the fan control chip manufacturer/s to fix the problem. Or maybe they can just tell the notebook owners it's time to buy a new notebook :(
