I loaded the hp pavilion 17 config on my hp pavilion 15 cs. It did work and I could change the fan speed but the maximum speed of my fan was more than the maximum speed of the config (config speed was above 100%). I tried editing the config and changing write and read register from 70 to 100, for which I'm extremely remorseful. The read only tab was fine and the fan maximum speed was more aligned with the actual speed. But as soon as I changed it to enabled tab, my screen went dark and my laptop shut down. I restarted a few times and used system restore but the problem didn’t resolve, just a few seconds after the log on screen, it happens again. I booted into safe mode with network and I could log in, but when I open Notebook FanControl, the load config part is just blank and shows no configs, I tried uninstalling and repairing the software but it fails.

Edit: I found out others with Pavilion laptops have had the same issue and thank Raigiku for the solution: https://github.com/hirschmann/nbfc/issues/1331
