That may be nice to check amavis connection availability before enabling amavis extension.
If Amavis extension is enabled but connection not available, Modoboa will be broken with the following permanent exception:

Exception Type: ConnectionDoesNotExist
Exception Value: The connection amavis doesn't exist
Exception Location: /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/django/db/utils.py in ensure_defaults, line 74
