Isn't it possible anymore to use players that are in Music Assistant?
Am I forced to connect the players to Lox AudioServer and then to use this players in Music Assistant?
@rudyberends commented on GitHub (Feb 20, 2026):
It was included in the first version, but it caused a lot of confusion, so it was removed.
I have not yet decided how to proceed. I will either reintroduce it in a clearer way, or remove Music Assistant entirely.
At this point, it generates too many support questions and mostly complicates the setup. Also the slowness issues, which are basically out of scope. It no longer adds significant value. That said, before removing it completely, all core features must work flawlessly. Until then, it will remain available as a fallback.
@mr-manuel commented on GitHub (Feb 20, 2026):
What you mean with first version, do you have the commit where it was removed? I would like to make tests with it.
The slowness issue is only with raw Lox Audio Server. If MA handles the library and players then everything is very fast.
@rudyberends commented on GitHub (Feb 20, 2026):
I don’t think we understand each other.
The fact that you want to test with an older version pretty much indicates that you’re trying to go through Music Assistant.
Please shut down Music Assistant completely and reproduce the issue without it.
Use either local files or a native streaming service. Do not use the MA bridge, as this causes the delay. If you can still reproduce the issue, share a full SPAM log of the playback attempt and we can pinpoint exactly where the delay is coming from—the log will show it clearly.
@mr-manuel commented on GitHub (Feb 21, 2026):
I agree with you that we don't understand esch other 😄
I will try with plain Lox Audio Server 4.x and local files as first in https://github.com/lox-audioserver/lox-audioserver/issues/138.
Since your statement is clear, that yor vision is to remove MA as an output I will close this issue.
