i installed Ubuntu 4 Times just because i love Ubuntu Desktop!
and i use katoolin every time i'd installed ubuntu, the reason for blank Desktop after installing, i guess the Gnome environment of KALI ISSUE #78 it causes the ubuntu to mix up the both unity and gnome desktop and kali tools as well, due to this reason we are getting blank desktop or Ubuntu Compatibility ISSUE #45

Now use katoolin and then add kali repositories.
After install your desired Tools/Applications(KALI_LINUX).
and then removed all KALI repositories from the source list (you can do either using Katoolin or going hard way in editing the source list file).
and only then you'll be able to use all applications without any problem in Ubuntu #31 .

and one more thing if you installed Armitage like i did.... don't forget to type these commands first.

sudo service postgresql start
sudo msfdb init
