Describe the feature you'd like

I'm loving Karakeep, but I installed the Android app, and I'm not sure that it has any value at all. If I install the Chrome app, I can bookmark a page with a click from the browser, but the Android app requires me to do EXACTLY what I'd do without a browser extension. I get that Chrome doesn't support extensions in Android, but surely the karakeep app can get closer!

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing Karakeep users

Too many clicks, to do something that I can do in a browser AND BE SURE YOU'RE NOT TRACKING ME! I'll never use an app to do something i can do in a browser, because i have more control over what data the browser can harvest.

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

Well, yes. Just don't install the app and paste the same links in the browser page for your installation of karakeep

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request

Offline access to documents, to read while in low coverage or in the subway etc is planned and not accessible to PWAs.

Edit: also, it allows sharing files and urls to it. Although there is a PR to make it happen happen in the pwa

Hey, I'm not sure exactly what the feature request is.

The point of the mobile app is to give us access to the share sheet of the phone, which as you mentioned replaces the extension for mobile phones. People (me included) also prefer mobile experiences over browser-based experiences on the phone.

There's really nothing that forces you to use the android app. If you're happy using karakeep in the browser, just don't install the app?

And I said it before and I'll say it again. Karakeep collects "zero" info. Not from the app, not from the web. We collect nothing. There's really nothing to trust here, the code is open source and you can build it locally if you want to be extra sure.

Given that there's no feature request here, I'm closing the issue.

I'm totally prepared to believe that you're collecting nothing, BUT the biggest threat in the Android app world is copycats. So, I don't install anything that can be handled in a web browser and encourage others to do the same.

FYI, I would not have submitted this as an issue if you had a discussion page, and it's a "feature request" because it's not a bug
