Describe the feature you'd like

Unless I am missing something, right now, there is no way to actually open an archived HTML file. My current workflow is to save a webpage using the SingleFile extension and send it to my Karakeep server. But then, the only way to view the archived file is in Karakeep webapp's small preview window. I want to be able to actually view the html file as if I double-clicked it and opened it in my web browser.

Current archive view:

Desired archive view:

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing Karakeep users

200% increase in screen real estate for html page

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

Not as far as I can tell

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request

Additional context

No response

Adding a +1 to this request. The logical fix would be to have the option (I'd argue it should be the default) to open the archived page when clicking on the bookmark image in the UI, rather than opening the original source URL.

@eao You can achieve that by clicking on the attachments menu on the bottom right and clicking on the archive attachment. This will open it in a new tab. I agree though that this can have a nicer UX.

@ropetin I'm planning to make what happens when you click on the bookmark configurable.

@MohamedBassem For me, clicking on the archive button can add and un-add the bookmark to the archive, but does not open it in a new tab. If this works on other people's systems, perhaps this is a problem with my installation.

@MohamedBassem, I don't understand the issue, nicer UX for attachments menu? If yes, what do you propose.

@MohamedBassem Ah, I did not even see that until just now. Thank you for explaining. I am glad this functionality already exists.

it would eb great having the option to when clicking on a keep article, to read the hosted/offline version, and not go to the original link.
