Describe the feature you'd like

When I used the app "Later" it opened URLs via default browser. This is helpful with paywall content. While you are logged in with your account within the app, you are not while the Karakeep app opens an in-app browser. This leads to the point that the user is not able or it delays to read the article as a log-in is required.

Options:

  • Use standard browser for easier navigation
  • Or give the options in the settings to decide if the user wants to use in-app browsing or default browser

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing Karakeep users

It will be easier consuming the content.

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

Currently not achieved

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request

Additional context

No response

@maelp commented on GitHub (Apr 24, 2025):

BTW I would suggest that clicking on an item should open the "archive view" first where it opens the item in Karakeep with the tags, description, etc, and then we should open the actual link from there, either in an in-browser, or using the user default browser (or a browser he chooses)

I agree with you @maelp. There should be an option to choose between to open the bookmark or the archive view, which displays the title, screenshot, description, tags, etc. What do you think @MohamedBassem?
