Describe the feature you'd like

Just installed Karakeep and really like it so far, thanks for this. I would really like to see the ability to format the text within the Notes section (bullets, links, bold, headers, etc.), maybe even the ability to @ other users that would show up in a notification system. I have not explored the collaboration feature yet, so I apologize if this already exists.

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing Karakeep users

Establish some form of structured content within the notes section will increase legibility in the case of lengthy content

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

Probably not? This would essentially change a textarea field with some sort of WYSIWYG editor... or at the very least support markdown language

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request

Additional context

Something like the Github comments UI would be great. Also, it feels odd to have the notes always editable when clicking into the field. Maybe a Save | Edit note toggle, similar to how comments work.

This already exists but not from the editor card immediately:

We also support markdown already.

Thanks for this @MohamedBassem , glad to see that this is actually a feature. I'm not seeing this option? Did you get to the editor from the 3 dots from the card view? This is what I'm seeing after clicking on the 3 dots. If it matters, I'm on the self-hosted version on Unraid

That makes sense now @myselfprincee , thank you... I would love to see that feature carried over globally to all cards. My use-case is that I have a few travel bookmarks that I would like to share. Within each bookmark, I would love to add bullet points, headlines and even inline links to certain attractions.

I have changed the title of this post from "Feature request: Rich text notes" to "Feature request: Rich text notes on all cards" to be more accurate

I think I get the FR now. It's about the notes attached to the bookmarks, not the bookmarks of type "text" (or notes). That makes sense to me. Marked it as approved, so that hopefully someone can pick it up.

@brianyuen Really Sorry, I misunderstood the message. This is a solid suggestion, and I’d be interested in picking it up.

maybe even the ability to @ other users that would show up in a notification system.

However, This seems to be a big feature and likely better handled as a dedicated PR or follow-up.

I have not explored the collaboration feature yet, so I apologize if this already exists.

Just to help you, Yes, the Collaboration Feature exists. but, you cannot share a particular bookmark with a particular person. in the case of Lists, You can choose to share it with everyone or with the number of people you want.
