Describe the feature you'd like

I propose a feature for the browser extension that automatically snapshots a website once visited. This should happen for all websites, if a certain setting (e.g. "Auto-hoard") is enabled.

I know this is not desired by everyone and can lead to privacy and maybe even security issues. Therefore I strongly suggest this option to be opt-in with a warning, notifying users about potential bad side effects.

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing Karakeep users

I think it's a common issue that people try to find that one site they visited years ago but totally forgot the name or title of.
With the great AI features of karakeep, having a "browser history" of snapshots makes it very easy to find a previously visited website by just describing the contents.
I personally often forget about running the extension manually when I visit a website and making the extension doing it automatically allows for a distraction-free experience.

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

There is no such feature in the web extension that enables automatically hoarding visited websites.

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request
