Summary

Currently, users with "Viewer" access in the Hoppscotch API client cannot update the current values in environment variables. In most other API clients, Viewer-level users can modify current values for temporary testing purposes without altering the initial values. Adding this capability would greatly enhance the usability of Hoppscotch for collaborative workflows.

Why should this be worked on?

Allowing users with "Viewer" access to update current values:

Aligns with industry standards followed by other API clients.
Enables dynamic testing without the risk of altering default settings.
Improves team collaboration by providing Viewer users with flexibility in testing while maintaining environment integrity.

This feature would make Hoppscotch a more robust tool for teams that rely on shared environments for API development and debugging.
