Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues

Current behavior

I saw a prompt to update Hoppscotch. I proceeded with the update and then used the application to send requests. After completing my tasks, I closed Hoppscotch.

Later, when I tried to reopen the application, it failed to launch, no response when clicking Hoppscotch icon.

I checked Task Manager and found that the Hoppscotch process was still running, process remained active in Task Manager, but the UI was not visible.

I was only able to relaunch Hoppscotch after manually ending its process in Task Manager.

Steps to reproduce

No longer reproducible. It now opens normally after closing. It seems to have been related to the update.

Manually killing the process allowed relaunch. Screen recording attached

This sounds like a potential issue with how the application process is being managed post-update. If the issue happens again, try checking if Hoppscotch is running as a background process and force quitting it before reopening. Additionally, running Hoppscotch with administrator privileges might help determine if there’s a permissions issue preventing proper closure.

Hi @codecrafter97 this is an existing issue with the old desktop app, the new desktop app v2025.2.0 is now available for download either from the website or releases repo.

Also just a heads up, migration from old desktop app to the new one requires manual install, perhaps you might have seen this banner appear at the top pointing to the download section on the website, if not - no worries, you can still download it manually, and please make sure to backup your collections my exporting them and logging in once to make sure all your settings are synced on the cloud!
