Right now init is not idempotent making it difficult for teams to spread git-ai across their teams.

  • Engineers have to know to run it, and know if they ran it.
  • Agents have to leave it to the user to run init

If it were idempotent it'd probably help teams and agent builders drive adoption with minimal downsides.
