Which version of Nextcloud? (if relevant)

No response

NGinx

Describe the Bug

Floccus 5.0.3 still goes into permanent sync; only interrupted by showing "All good" for a second where it says "synced 2 hours ago"; and then starts syncing again. Sync interval set to 15 min; Auto sync off; deleted all lock files on server while browser was closed; XBEL file is encrypted. Tried clearing cache; no change. Log was 65MB so I had to shorten it.

Expected Behavior

should sync only every 15 min

To Reproduce

unknown

Debug log provided

  • I have provided a debug log file

Hello 👋

Thank you for taking the time to open this issue with floccus. I know it's frustrating when software
causes problems. You have made the right choice to come here and open an issue to make sure your problem gets looked at
and if possible solved.
I'm Marcel and I created floccus and have been maintaining it ever since.
I currently work for Nextcloud which leaves me with less time for side projects like this one
than I used to have.
I still try to answer all issues and if possible fix all bugs here, but it sometimes takes a while until I get to it.
Until then, please be patient.
Note also that GitHub is a place where people meet to make software better together. Nobody here is under any obligation
to help you, solve your problems or deliver on any expectations or demands you may have, but if enough people come together we can
collaborate to make this software better. For everyone.
Thus, if you can, you could also have a look at other issues to see whether you can help other people with your knowledge
and experience. If you have coding experience it would also be awesome if you could step up to dive into the code and
try to fix the odd bug yourself. Everyone will be thankful for extra helping hands!
One last word: If you feel, at any point, like you need to vent, this is not the place for it; you can go to the forum,
to twitter or somewhere else. But this is a technical issue tracker, so please make sure to
focus on the tech and keep your opinions to yourself.

I look forward to working with you on this issue
Cheers 💙

I think I know what is happening. Can you go to about:debugging -> "This firefox" -> "extensions" -> "floccus" and click "Inspect", then navigate to the Console tab. Then wait a while until floccus has finished syncing and shows the check mark symbol again. This should be a short-term "fix" to get it to work again, but I need to work on a long-term fix.

It does not stop syncing when I look at the console. I am attaching the result of "RMB->Save all messages to file" from the console.

In my case, one Firefox syncs all its bookmarks while another instance syncs that into a sub-folder while not syncing the rest of its bookmarks. Maybe that makes a special case. Both are FF on Linux.

Reproduced on Linux with same Firefox # as OP, but floccus version 5.0.4. Could not reproduce on macOS.
@marcelklehr's workaround worked for me.

I have the same problem: Endless syncing wihtout reason, even if autosync is disabled.
In addition to Firefox I have this in Ungoogled Chromium and in Waterfox G6.0.6 under Linux Mint 21.2
Can I safely return to version 4?
