Hello there,

it took a long time to compose this new version, mostly due to other commitments but also because of some unique challenges. If you're up for a bit of testing in order to get an earlier glimpse at the new features of the upcoming floccus version, you're welcome to follow the guide below. I dare say there are some long awaited gems :)

Changes:

Improved sync algorithm: better performance when uploading large bookmark trees by using bulk import (my preliminary benchmarks yielded 4000 bookmarks in 7 minutes) -- (this only works when using nextcloud bookmarks v1.1.0)
Sync strategy option: You can now choose to sync one way only, e.g. sync from server to client or from client to server (always overriding any changes on the other side)
Cancel sync: You can now cancel an in-progress sync run
Fix URL normalization: Once and for all, hopefully. We're now following the official WHATWG spec
Improved the speed-up option: It should now actually be usable and will soon be turned on by default, if all is well

Installation

Chrome (separate testing installation)

Download the build here: https://github.com/marcelklehr/floccus/releases/tag/v3.4.0-beta.3
Create a new folder
Unzip the zip file there
In chrome go to chrome://extensions/
Enable developer mode
Click Load unpacked extension and select the folder you created

Chrome (direct upgrade; might not always work)

Download the crx build here: https://github.com/marcelklehr/floccus/releases/tag/v3.4.0-beta.3
In chrome go to chrome://extensions/
Drop the .crx file into the page to install

Firefox (separate testing installation; cannot upgrade)

Download the zip build here: https://github.com/marcelklehr/floccus/releases/tag/v3.4.0-beta.3
Unzip the zip file in a new folder
In firefox go to about:debugging
Click Load tempoprary addon and select the manifest file in the folder you created
