Describe the Bug
JavaScript bookmarks occasionally disappear during sync.
Expected Behavior
JavaScript bookmarks should sync the same way other bookmarks do.
To Reproduce
I haven't fully narrowed it down yet, but it seems like syncing from Vivaldi drops any JavaScript bookmarks that were added by another browser (possibly including other Vivaldi instances). If I add a JS bookmark to the bookmarks bar in Firefox, it never makes it to Vivaldi and always ends up missing after a few syncs. If I do the same on Vivaldi, it sticks around, at least for a while. They did eventually disappear after syncing to another device also running both Firefox and Vivaldi, which makes me suspect that on Vivaldi, the Floccus extension might just be deleting any incoming JS bookmarks, regardless of which browser created them.

Hello 👋
Thank you for taking the time to open this issue with floccus. I know it's frustrating when software
causes problems. You have made the right choice to come here and open an issue to make sure your problem gets looked at
and if possible solved.
I'm Marcel and I created floccus a few years ago, maintaining it ever since. I currently work for Nextcloud
which leaves me with less time for side projects like this one than I used to have.
I still try to answer all issues and if possible fix all bugs here, but it sometimes takes a while until I get to it.
Until then, please be patient.
Note also that GitHub is a place where people meet to make software better together. Nobody here is under any obligation
to help you, solve your problems or deliver on any expectations or demands you may have, but if enough people come together we can
collaborate to make this software better. For everyone.
Thus, if you can, you could also have a look at other issues to see whether you can help other people with your knowledge
and experience. If you have coding experience it would also be awesome if you could step up to dive into the code and
try to fix the odd bug yourself. Everyone will be thankful for extra helping hands!
To continue the development and maintenance of this project in a sustainable way it is expected that you donate to the project when opening a ticket,
if you're not a donor already. You can find donation options at https://floccus.org/donate/. Thank you!
One last word: If you feel, at any point, like you need to vent, this is not the place for it; you can go to the Nextcloud forum,
to twitter or somewhere else. But this is a technical issue tracker, so please make sure to
focus on the tech and keep your opinions to yourself.
I look forward to working with you on this issue
Cheers 💙

Hi @kvibber
Are you on 5.3.0 on Vivaldi as well? I'll try to reproduce
@kvibber commented on GitHub (Sep 30, 2024):
First, thanks for looking into this!
Second, It's even weirder than I thought, and doesn't seem to be Vivaldi-specific.
It did turn out that both Vivaldi instances were still running Floccus 5.2.7, but...
After making sure that my Linux and Windows copies of Vivaldi and Firefox all were running Floccus 5.3.0, I started experimenting with adding a bookmarklet using one browser or another, noting which one in the name (ex: FL for Firefox on Linux, VW for Vivaldi on Windows), and also looking at the relevant folder on the server through the web interface.
I have confirmed that sometimes sync in either browser on either Windows or Linux will delete some or all of the JS bookmarks on the server, even if it's the only connected browser running at the time. And sometimes sync will re-add them.
I'm attaching the redacted log from a Firefox/Linux session in which sync removed 3 of 5 bookmarklets on the server without deleting them locally, then added them back in a later sync.

I was able to reproduce this 🎉
Deletion appears to happen when the browser is freshly started.
@marcelklehr commented on GitHub (Oct 9, 2024):
v5.3.1 was just released and has the fix for this
@kvibber commented on GitHub (Oct 11, 2024):
Thanks! I had to pull the full data down on two browsers, but now that I've got all of them running 5.3.1, it seems to be working perfectly!
