Migration does not require manual data conversion. Commercial editions reuse the existing workspace, connections, and user configuration. License activation is the only required additional step.

Migration process

Important: Do not uninstall Community Edition before installing the commercial edition. Uninstalling may remove the existing workspace.

If you need to remove Community Edition, copy the workspace to a safe location first.

  1. Obtain a commercial license. You can purchase a license or request a trial on the DBeaver website.

  2. Download the commercial edition that matches your license from https://dbeaver.com/download/

  3. Install DBeaver

To reuse your existing workspace automatically, start the commercial edition with the same workspace location as Community Edition. If you used the default workspace location, no additional steps are required. If you used a custom workspace, select the same folder on startup.

  4. Activate a valid license.

Data and settings migration

DBeaver commercial editions automatically reuse the existing workspace. All migration operations described below are optional and apply only if you want to move data between installations or machines.

Workspace migration

To migrate everything at once, including preferences, projects, scripts, diagrams, and other workspace data, copy the entire workspace folder and place it in the corresponding location on the target machine.

For details, see the Workspace migration.

Specific data migration

If you dont need to move the entire workspace, you can migrate individual data types instead:
