What do you think?
@marclaporte commented on GitHub (May 21, 2024):
Initial brainstorming:
Some info on how Cypht is different: https://wikisuite.org/Webmail-and-groupware-comparison
1- Open Source
It contrasts with proprietary solutions
2- The concept of aggregation
Some of the alternatives also permit to add more than one account, but they have no way to move emails between accounts, and no unified view/search.
3- Can run on shared hosting
Like Roundcube
Not like SOGo
4- Cypht is available as a standalone
Like Roundcube, SnappyMail, etc.
Not like Nextcloud Mail
5- Cypht can be embedded
Cypht is available from https://packagist.org/packages/jason-munro/cypht and used as Tiki's webmail: https://doc.tiki.org/Cypht
6- Supports JMAP
As of today, Cypht is the only webmail here: https://jmap.io/software.html
First attempt:
Short version: Open Source webmail aggregator [PHP, JS]
Medium version: Cypht is and Open Source webmail aggregator (List and search all your E-mail, from all your IMAP or JMAP accounts, in one place) with many related features (Sieve filters, contact management, news reader, RSS aggregator, etc.) [PHP, JS]
What do you think?
@mercihabam commented on GitHub (May 27, 2024):
Thank you @marclaporte for the initial idea.
Additionally, I'd describe Cypht as follows:
Short version:
A versatile, open-source webmail client aggregator built with PHP and JavaScript
Medium:
Cypht is a feature-rich, easy-to-integrate open-source webmail client designed to streamline all your email communication needs in a unified way.
Long:
Cypht is a versatile open-source webmail client aggregator designed to provide a comprehensive and seamless email management experience. This powerful webmail client can integrate multiple email accounts, allowing for the viewing, copying, moving, and searching of emails across different accounts, making it easier than ever to manage all your email communications in one place.
With Cypht, users can effortlessly handle emails from different providers, ensuring that all correspondence is accessible and organized. The client supports calendar invitations and a calendar feature, allowing users to schedule and manage events directly from their inbox.
Additionally, Cypht offers a robust contact management, ensuring that all your essential contacts are easily accessible and well-organized.
Cypht's open-source nature ensures that it is highly customizable and easy to integrate with other tools and services, providing flexibility to meet diverse user needs. Its user-friendly design and feature-rich functionality make it an ideal solution for both personal and professional email management.
