I mainly work with just two types of databases:

  • PostgreSQL
  • MariaDB
  • MySQL (occasionally :P)

I’ve already tested several tools:

  • ByteBase (perfect, but limited to 10 servers)
  • Navicat (14-day trial)
  • HeidiSQL
  • phpMyAdmin
  • Adminer
  • pgAdmin4 (excellent, but PostgreSQL only)

However, I’ve never found a single solution that fully meets all my needs across the different databases I manage.

For PostgreSQL, I use pgAdmin4, and I’m very satisfied with it since it lets me do everything I need in a very convenient way.
For MariaDB/MySQL, I use HeidiSQL (a Windows application), but I’m not as happy with it.

Since CloudBeaver is a dockerized web UI, I tried it some time ago and decided to revisit it once it had matured. Today I gave it another try, and while I was pleased with most aspects, I still feel it’s designed more for managing databases within a server rather than managing the database servers themselves.

Features I’m Missing:

  1. An easy web UI to create new users (similar to pgAdmin).
  2. An easy web UI to create new databases (similar to pgAdmin).
  3. A straightforward way to export entire databases and users.
  4. A straightforward way to import entire databases and users.

While I can rename databases, true database management features are lacking. If CloudBeaver included these capabilities, managing databases (from a root account) would become much easier.

Of course, I can do all of this through SQL statements, but then it raises the question: what’s the real use case of the app - is it only meant as a viewer or db-editor, but not as a database-manager?

Thank you to everyone contributing to this project!

Hello, @the-hotmann!
Thank you so much for your suggestions 🙏
We do plan to add these features to CloudBeaver in the future.

In the meantime, you can use our desktop product DBeaver, which already includes all these capabilities 🦫

@dariamarutkina thank you very much!

Indeed with the Desktop-Edition I could achive what I wanted, but also there: "renaming databases", was not possible yet.
Is there a RoadMap/ETA for the for the above mentioned features?

Thanks in advance!

At the moment, I can’t provide exact timelines, but these features are planned for future releases 🦫
