This may have already been answered, but I wasn't able to find it. Is there a way to increase the captive portal speed. When I connect to the SSID on my phone it seems to take a long time before the captive portal appears. Is there a way to speed this up?

No

It is your client device causing the delay, you can try to turn off all other network connections, The captive portal has to wait until the client requests an internet check and then we redirect it which launches the cp.
It is possible there is something else going on, but it is hard to tell without info , could be slow getting an ip from the esp. For a while IOS was taking for ever, now it seems to have been fixed, so it all seems to rely on the clients implementation of captive portals.
