I tried updating to DSM 7.3, but the system requires me to remove Video Station first. I’m hoping someone can test whether this patch works properly on DSM 7.3 before I upgrade my main NAS.

Testet the installation on my RS816
DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 4
to
7.3-81180

Required Uninstall of Video Station before Update.

After 7.3 Update in Package-Center:
Advanced Media Extensions (30.1.0-3005)- This package is not compatible with the DSM-Version
Mediaserver (20.0.5-3152) - This package is not compatible with the DSM-Version

After Script:
Video Station (30.1.0-3153) installed
AME (30.1.0-3005) & MS (20.0.5-3152) installed and compatible

Video Station works fine like before.

I have also updated from 7.2.2 update 4 to 7.3. Had to uninstall Video station (keep the video station database) update the DSM then run the script and everything is back to how it was.

Awesome, thanks for the quick test! I've also upgraded my nas without issues. Just delete video station first, update, and then run the .sh script using taskplanner.

I'd reopen since the script needs to be renamed and the readme updated to cover 7.3.

Make it easier for folks to find this.

Also, wondering if more models are affected?

7.3.811180 release notes does say:

"Introduced in DSM 7.2.2 and continued in DSM 7.3, media file processing for HEVC (H.265), AVC (H.264), and VC-1 codecs is now handled by end devices to improve system efficiency."

The readme has been updated to say "DSM 7.2.2 and DSM 7.3" in both relevant places.

I also changed the What about DTS, EAC3 and TrueHD Audio? section from FFmpeg 6 to FFmpeg 7 because FFmpeg 6 is no longer available.
