[Bug Report]
Popups and redirects to other sites when downloading
Problem
When downloading, the SpotiDownloader website opens, but then other sites open and sometimes the Opera browser automatically downloads
Type
Applies to any download
Spotify URL
Applies to any URL
Version
SpotiDownloader v 7.01 (but has always done this for other versions)
OS
Windows 11
Additional Context
I have AdGuard and have enabled settings to block popups in Chrome, but these do not work.
@dami3n1 commented on GitHub (Jan 23, 2026):
its not a bug its a feature (not really but it opens because of spotidownloader website and thats how the website makes money) so you got to deal with it or pay to download songs the official way.
@legaldeejay commented on GitHub (Jan 23, 2026):
But if you go directly to the website to download, the popups and redirects do not occur. It only occurs when using this project.
@dami3n1 commented on GitHub (Jan 24, 2026):
if you turn off your adblocker you will see how many ads there are, and when the app opens chromium the website opens and redirects to other websites (ads) and they make money, and also the app doesn't use your profile with the settings and adblocker it makes a temporary user every time it opens
@afkarxyz commented on GitHub (Jan 25, 2026):
The pop-up ads are from the website itself. There's nothing I can do about it. It's okay, as long as you get the token.
