Original GitHub issue: https://github.com/Rafiuth/Soggfy/issues/145
Description
After installing Spotify using the Soggfy install script, Spotify will only launch correctly the first time it is opened. If Spotify is closed and then reattempted to be opened, the Spotify icon briefly appears in the system tray before disappearing, and the application does not fully launch. No number of relaunch attempts or even a system reboot fixes this issue.
Steps to Reproduce
Current Workaround
The only workaround I have found is to uninstall Spotify completely, then run the Soggfy installation script again from scratch. After reinstalling, Spotify will open correctly on the first attempt, but the issue reoccurs the moment it is closed and reopened.
Relevant Details
@AlexSeanchai commented on GitHub (Nov 11, 2025):
I think this is the same problem? Except I'm not getting as far as Spotify launching once with Soggfy in place. If I've just reinstalled Spotify 1.2.31.1205 and haven't yet run the Soggfy 2.7.3 install script, or if I've deleted from the AppData folder the dll and js that I just pasted in for manual Soggfy reinstall, then Spotify opens. Otherwise Spotify appears in the processes list in Task Manager, then closes itself within a couple seconds.
Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 25H2
Installed on 12/9/2024
OS build 26200.7171
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.265.0
(I thought the problem might be SpotX, but telling Soggfy install script not to install SpotX changes nothing about the problem. SpotX might still be a problem, as I had to make an exception in Bitdefender to get it to stop telling me spotx-official.github.io is infected thus inaccessible. But regardless of whether it's actually infected or just blocked, that is a different problem.)
