Do you keep updating the 1.3.0.0 version is releases or is it recommended to always upgrade from source code?

It is recommended to always use the latest version. I don't have the time to support older versions. Please check out the upgrade guide: https://github.com/quasar/Quasar/wiki/Updating-a-Client
