Have you read and understood the above guidelines?

Yes

🔎 Did you run the script with verbose mode enabled?

Yes, verbose mode was enabled and the output is included below

📜 What is the name of the script you are using?

DebianLXC

📂 What was the exact command used to execute the script?

bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/community-scripts/ProxmoxVE/main/ct/debian.sh)"

⚙️ What settings are you using?

  • Default Settings
  • Advanced Settings

🖥️ Which Linux distribution are you using?

Debian 13

📈 Which Proxmox version are you on?

Virtual Environment 9.1.2

📝 Provide a clear and concise description of the issue.

  1. Debian LXC install automatically adds the iGPU (FUSE was disabled)
    Resources/0/dev/dri/renderD128
    Resources/1/dev/dri/card0

  2. The option to allow for root access was removed

  3. The output of the installation process overwrites the configuration that was printed on the screen and it becomes a significant mess.

🔄 Steps to reproduce the issue.

  1. Visit your proxmox server instance and select the PVE shell

  2. Using the proxmox user scripts, copy the installation script for Debian LXC
    bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/community-scripts/ProxmoxVE/main/ct/debian.sh)"

  3. Using advanced settings, set up the instance (unprovisioned, no FUSE)

  4. Watch the madness unfold

  5. and Default settings is broken
⠏ Starting LXC Containerbridge 'vmbr0' does not exist
✖️ in line 2620: exit code 255 (DPKG: Fatal internal error): while executing command pct start "$CTID"
--- Last 20 lines of silent log ---
(this most likely is due to unique setting of my network)

Paste the full error output (if available).

(note: the config text is written over by the installation verbose report)

  1. Thats true, but not per se an issue, i remove it - but If anyone Request it again, it will be readded.

  2. What?

  3. What? Its only a few lines expect in verbose

  4. Your vmbr0 is wrong or Missing.

Reorder your issue, no one know what you mean, where you get Issues. I dont See any Issues of your posted "mess"

  1. It is an issue; adding unnecessary resources without user notification or possible intervention; These scripts are amazing, but they always used to allow for end user control.

  2. Allow root access; a previous option was removed. Now accessing the LXC on my intranet is not possible; previously installed LXC containers allowed for the user to select allow root access
    Solution is to
    nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config
    PermitRootLogin yes

  3. That is my whole verbose output; as you can see it overwrote the config printing on the screen

  4. I know, that is why i mentioned that

Thanks!

  1. No it isnt. Its an Automatic Bypass as Feature Request. If you See it as Bug, okay, its removed. But If another user readd it, its readded. You are Not alone with 2mio installs this year.

  2. You Tell about the Automatic Login? Thats since months or years the same Logic?

As for the rest, I have no idea what you expect from us.

  1. Hope to see this as a selectable option for users during the installation process.

  2. "Enable root access"; It is not automatic log in.
    This option is missing
    https://techdecode.online/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Install-Docker-LXC-26-Root-SSH-Access.webp

  3. Quite easy - just make sure that when the script outputs the configuration, that the script is not overwritten by the verbose install process. It was kept clear in the past (no overwriting) but now it is over written.

  4. It was presented as I did not want you to be concerned about it - that is why I stated I understood where it came from.

This option is not present currently with the advanced config option.
edit: the solution I provided earlier also provides insight into what was removed and how it impacted the LXC configuration.
nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config
PermitRootLogin yes

as for the other overwrite 'issue' ... my bad; I took some screenshots and see what was changed and the overwritten text is completely overwritten and is readable ... my apologies.
