This happened to me after changing a theme of the app, because it restarted and no longer wanted to start, I deleted the folder where it was installed with the intention of installing it again but it still does not work. I have done everything, I restarted the PC, changed the java runtime and nothing. Can anyone help me? I want to use it on Windows 8 because I can't find another way to listen to Spotify on Windows 8.
@HIXOXIH commented on GitHub (Feb 15, 2025):
This is happening because the configuration file gets corrupted after making any changes to the settings.
The way to get around this until this issue is resolved is to go to "C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USERNAME\Application Data\SpotifyXP" and delete the "config.json" file.
Do not make any changes to the settings or the error will occur again.
I hope this helps.

I can't replicate the config issue.
It works for me
@Matias01jr commented on GitHub (Feb 16, 2025):
Thanks, it worked for me, but I have another little problem, it gets stuck on creating api now. Do I have to delete the folder that contains all the data from the AppData. in my case the location was C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\SpotifyXP
@Matias01jr commented on GitHub (Feb 16, 2025):
Now it stays in create api and doesn't go beyond that, it already gave me an error
@Matias01jr commented on GitHub (Feb 16, 2025):
I've now fixed it by deleting all the files in that folder and logging back in. Thanks for helping me find the directory where I needed to start editing. I don't want this report to be deleted, please keep it as a help for other people.
@Matias01jr commented on GitHub (Feb 16, 2025):
I found another bug, spotify detected my main account which is the one I used as if there was suspicious activity and changed my password, I had to change it back manually. I think it's just a bug and I trust it can be fixed. Hopefully so. Thank you very much.
@werwolf2303 commented on GitHub (Feb 16, 2025):
What login method did you use?
@Matias01jr commented on GitHub (Feb 16, 2025):
0auth2 with spotify
@werwolf2303 commented on GitHub (Feb 19, 2025):
Please run SpotifyXP via cmd
Send me the output after running it
@Matias01jr commented on GitHub (Feb 19, 2025):
I've already solved this before. Thanks. 😊
