You can make a shortcut that opens a url to sidestore: and that should open the integrated SideStore and you can put it on the home screen with the SideStore name and icon

On my end it ask to opens it in LiveContainer 2, which obviously doesn't work.
But it seems tracked in #823 and fixed in ac2b99d , so it'll work soon™ !

Build containing the fix : https://github.com/LiveContainer/LiveContainer/actions/runs/17677486416

any idea if something like this will be a feature? i think it'd be sick if we could hold down apps installed inside of livecontainer and hit something like "add to home screen" which would create a shortcut with the app icon and name which opens the app from livecontainer.

If you visit sidestore:// it will open the integrated SideStore. You can create a home screen shortcut (webclip) here and set the URL to sidestore:// or add the SideStore widget to your home screen and just tap on that, which will take you to the integrated sidestore.

When I have already opened an app A in LiveContainer and then trigger the action to open sidestore://, it still opens app A instead of SideStore itself. Is this the expected behavior? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Yup, for now you'll have to close the app. Would be a great addition to have a popup asking to force open-it.

I found a workaround: Open LiveContainer first using livecontainer://livecontainer-launch?bundle-name=ui, wait 2 seconds, then use sidestore:// to launch SideStore.

Fixed. Now lc will show a prompt if you open sidestore:// while an app is open asking whether you want to relaunch into sidestore
