The notification feature is pretty basic and has some bugs. It requires re working. I would like re do the email notification and also add pushbullet support as well.
This will also resolve issues #472 and #394
@UltimateByte commented on GitHub (Jan 2, 2016):
Don't forget this https://github.com/dgibbs64/linuxgsm/issues/404
@dgibbs64 commented on GitHub (Jan 11, 2016):
For now I will ensure that the email feature is working correctly. Then revisit this as I have some good ideas about this. e.g pushbullet support
@jaredballou commented on GitHub (Jan 12, 2016):
Moving my comment from #472 to here:
FYI: I use some Steam API stuff that may be helpful. See https://github.com/jaredballou/insurgency-tools/blob/master/server.php - that takes an array of servers, gets their version info, and then compares it against what the Steam API says the latest version is. Can also look at $GAMEDIR/steam.inf for the PatchVersion variable if you want to just cut out the Steam API stuff, and simply compare a version number. Let me know if you want a hand with this.

Moving my comment from #404 to here:
Take a look at what I use for this: http://www.pixelbeat.org/scripts/ansi2html.sh - converts ANSI output to HTML. There is also a Perl module, which means it requires a lot more prereqs but is here for additional info: http://pablomarin-garcia.blogspot.com/2011/04/converting-ansi-to-html-how-to-convert.html
FYI, I used that script as a base and instead of the massive style sheet just created the color codes manually. If you want, I can whip up a function for LGSM that captures output (probably by a "print" function that echos the string it gets as well as appending to buffer variable or file) and see if I can make a convenient "converter" at the end to make the emails clearer? We probably want to merge in #394 as part of this, and overhaul the email function entirely.
@dgibbs64 commented on GitHub (Feb 1, 2016):
Working on this now. First stage is to get the existing email system working better as its a little broken. I definitely want to do as @jaredballou suggested with ANSI to HTML to hopefully create a pretty email option. However first things first. Stable text based email. I will probably move to other higher priority features/bugs first then revisit this at a later date.
@dgibbs64 commented on GitHub (May 22, 2016):
Basic improvements now present. However still more to do.
@dgibbs64 commented on GitHub (Jul 12, 2016):
Push bullet support added now and improvements to the email feature now in place. A HTML email feature would be good however not going to be a priority currently.
