Does this still work?

I can't speak for the author but I'm guessing because this tool is commercial only now, the API is private as well.

Unfortunately, there is no open-source model available yet.

I tried both Powershell and Gitbash and both times got Status: 400 Bad Request. Given up to go try another alternative.

That's correct, but Gemini also produces good results. Have you tried it?

I installed it on Ubuntu, and it works well via the CLI with an API key. The UI functions, but it does not accept the key.
