Unable to connect after upgrading to 2.2.0. Cloak can establish session but OpenVPN can't connect, it connected once but still couldn't open any website.
@Klaaktu commented on GitHub (Jun 7, 2020):
UDP works with
5cbc248ck-server + 2.2.0 ck-client. Switching ck-server from 2.2.0 to5cbc248made YT speed go from 20Mb (max, usually under 1000kb because of gfw throttling) to 30Mb (haven't tested whether it will get throttled but it was stable in the past).@cbeuw commented on GitHub (Jun 7, 2020):
Should be fixed in
github.com/cbeuw/Cloak@ff10cbf67b. It'd be great if you can test this. If it works fine I'll do a fix release@Klaaktu commented on GitHub (Jun 7, 2020):
@cbeuw ty!
Using ck-client & ck-server built from master, OpenVPN in UDP mode can connect, tho I can't test the speed, gfw seems to be good at detecting VPN. It goes from 15Mb to 1000kb in a few seconds and the IP stays throttled even if I switch to Shadowsocks.
Shadowsocks + Cloak works very well (tested using another IP, same server), 30+Mb max as before.
@cbeuw commented on GitHub (Jun 7, 2020):
@klaaktu Is GFW able to detect OpenVPN when Cloak is used in non-plaintext mode?
@Klaaktu commented on GitHub (Jun 7, 2020):
@cbeuw idk, it seems so but it could be anything...
I use OpenVPN in plain-text with Cloak in aes-gcm (for me vanilla OpenVPN doesn't work at all).
I ran OpenVPN using the second IP, now it also stays at 1000k.
I've had a bunch of problems with OpenVPN (tcp/udp) in the past which I attributed to GFW: It could be slow, or lossy, or unable to connect, or connected but unable to proxy anything, but then some days it was completely fine and speedy.
Those problems could appear after a period of use, or straight-up during sensitive periods. The more severe problems were much less likely to happen, usually it was just slow.
@Klaaktu commented on GitHub (Jun 8, 2020):
Tested OpenVPN + Cloak with YT again today. Both TCP and UDP mode have 20Mb+ speed.
In UDP mode, fast.com says 8Mb, speedtest.net shows the speed climbing from 5Mb to 20Mb before time ran out.
